English soprano Elizabeth Karani is a graduate of the National Opera Studio, London. She trained on the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama Opera Course under Susan McCulloch and received a Master of Music with distinction and was awarded a Concert Recital Diploma for her final recital. Elizabeth also studied under Susan Roper at the Royal Northern College of Music and received a BMus (Hons) 1st Class. She currently studies privately with Mary Plazas.
Elizabeth has won several awards, including the Elizabeth Harwood Award, the Dame Eva Turner Award, the Elsie Thurston Prize, the Harold Rosenthal Prize and a Kathleen Ferrier Young Singer’s Award. She was a 2015 Les Azuriales Finalist and a 2016 Joaninha Award Finalist. She was a Park Lane Group Young Artist, a Countess of Munster Recital Scheme Artist and is a 2018-21 Equilibrium Young Artist. Elizabeth has made her concert debuts at the Gasteig (Munich), alongside conductor Barbara Hannigan and the Munich Philharmonic, Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Hall, the Bridgewater Hall, St John’s Smith Square, Westminster Abbey, the Xi’an Concert Hall (Xi'an, China), Musique Cordiale (Provence, France) and at La Folle Journée (Nantes, France).

At the National Opera Studio, Elizabeth's core roles were Adina L'elisir d'amore and Governess The Turn of the Screw. Also for the National Opera Studio, Elizabeth sang the roles of Karl in Joanna Marsh's My Beautiful Camel, Masha in Elena Langer's Four Sisters and Mother in Errollyn Wallen's Sabina at Wilton's Music Hall.
During the 2022/23 season, Elizabeth will make her ETO debut as Gismonda in Handel's Ottone, sing Belinda/Second Witch Dido and Aeneas at the Theatre Royal Bath, make her Violetta debut La Traviata for Salon Opera and return to Opera Holland Park as Musetta La Bohème, amongst other projects. Elizabeth begins her 2023/24 season by returning to ETO as Drusilla in The Coronation of Poppea.
